During the Sarasota School Board’s Workshop Meeting on 9/7/21 both Karen Rose (R) and Bridget Ziegler (R) raised questions regarding the fact that attorney Dan DeLeo essentially bypassed their input and held private discussions with the Shirley Brown (D), Thomas Edwards (D), And Jane Goodwin (D). These private discussions with the democrat majority board members ultimately led to the removal of the previous attorney Patrick Duggan. Dan DeLeo specifically states that Shirley Brown brought up a “personality clash” between her and attorney Patrick Duggan, DeLeo then stated he makes decisions under the direction of the majority meaning he does not feel he has to bring matters before the entire board for input and approval nor does he feel the public should hear about the reasoning.
